NSA Washington is located in our nation's capital of Washington D.C., on the central East Coast. Although D.C. is not technically a state, it is in between the states of Virginia and Maryland and many families choose to live outside of the large D.C. metro area in one of these other areas. You can use your BAH to either rent on post or to rent or purchase your own home off post.

Off Post Housing

The average price of a home in the Washington D.C. area is about $445,000. This is slightly higher than the nearby states; Virginia state average is about $250,000, and Maryland is about $305,000. Rent is usually about $1,900 per month.

Whether you prefer the urban area of D.C. or the suburbs of Virginia or Maryland, there is no shortage of housing options near the NSA. Cities in Maryland include Hyattsville, Mitchellville, College Park, Silver Spring, and Bethesda. Virginia cities are Arlington, Alexandria, Annandale, Springfield, Falls Church, McLean, and Newington. These are highly populated suburbs with lots of neighborhoods, shopping centers, schools, and events.

The nation's capital and surrounding metro area is the 7th largest in the country with over 5.5 million residents. On Post Housing

NSA Washington on base housing is privately owned by Hunt Military Communities. Housing for this base is provided by several of the other nearby military bases, such as Joint Base Anacostia Bolling and Andrews AFB. Depending on the area, single family or townhome units may be available and offer amenities such as garages, patios, or bay windows.
